Service Description

Take your training further with our six-week Intermediate Trick Training Course. This fun, friendly class uses positive, reward-based methods and is designed for dogs who have completed the beginners’ course or already know a selection of foundation tricks. You and your dog will develop familiar behaviours, explore more advanced tricks and begin linking individual skills into longer sequences. We may work on tricks such as weaving, crawling, rolling over, covering the eyes, jumping through the arms, retrieving objects, holding positions and combining several behaviours. Exercises may vary to suit the dogs attending. The course will help you improve your timing, communication and ability to plan a training session. You’ll learn how to make cues clearer, fade prompts and food lures, build duration, increase distance and introduce distractions without making the task too difficult. We will also use techniques such as shaping, capturing and backchaining to teach more complicated behaviours in achievable stages. Intermediate does not mean your dog must perform perfectly. Dogs are individuals, and each partnership will have different strengths. One dog may learn physical tricks quickly but need more help with stillness and focus. Another may enjoy precise behaviours but find energetic sequences harder. There is no competition and no pressure to keep up with anybody else. Trick training provides valuable mental stimulation while supporting confidence, concentration, coordination, body awareness and problem-solving. It can also strengthen your relationship by encouraging clear communication and shared success. Training should feel enjoyable for both ends of the lead, even when a new skill needs patience. Every dog will be encouraged to progress at their own pace. If an exercise feels difficult, we can break it into smaller steps, change the reward, reduce the distraction or try another approach. Your dog will never be forced into a position or physically manipulated to complete a trick. Comfort and welfare always come first, and dogs may take breaks whenever needed. By the end of the course, you should have a wider collection of tricks, greater confidence in your own training skills and a better understanding of how to develop behaviours independently. You may also have the beginnings of a short trick routine that showcases your dog’s personality and favourite skills. A relaxed, friendly class and mistakes are part of learning. Advance booking is essential.
